Here he began work on the creation of an “electric vehicle that anyone, not just the elite, can afford.” The basis of Areni took inexpensive model Renault, Dacia Logan 2005 release. The author of the idea got rid of all the details related to the internal combustion engine and fuel in general, and replaced all this with batteries, an electric motor and the corresponding elements. The author of the project says that there are not many chips inherent in Tesla electric vehicles (such as a large touchscreen display) in his car. But this electric car can travel about 160 kilometers without recharging (the price of travel will be $ 1.8). The battery is fully charged in six hours.

Why did he go to Romania? To obtain permission from the local regulator to use cars on public roads. Romanian Automotive Register (RAR) has already given the go-ahead. But in France, he could not get permission to move on his DIY-electric car (then - Porsche 944). After months of trying to negotiate, he gave up. The French regulator demanded a frontal and side crash test, that is, the master needed to destroy two cars before getting permission to move in the third.

In Romania, as Mark Areni says, few people can afford an electric car like Tesla. But Dacia, the used basic version, can be purchased for as low as $ 1,000 to $ 3,000. Here he added a 20 kWh Li-Ion battery ($ 7,000). An electric motor, additional parts and a power regulator can be purchased for $ 4000- $ 5000. For Areni personally, the creation of an electric car cost $ 13,000, as mentioned above.
Of course, 160 km is not so much, but for most city dwellers and residents of the suburb, this option fits perfectly.
