New browser Brave from Mozilla co-founder will pay users for viewing ads

Why fight advertising if they pay for it?

Despite the fact that the browser market seems to be saturated, from time to time there are new items. Now it became known that the co-founder of Mozilla and the creator of the JavaScript programming language Brendan Eich is preparing to release a new browser called Brave. When creating Brave, the developers focused on two main tasks: making the browser safe for the user, plus achieving high performance.

For the first time about Brave became known in January. Then the creators reported that the software will be released under Windows, Max, Linux, iOS and Android. Plus, the browser has a built-in ad blocker (it was already written about the new product on Megamozg, but then users were not aware of payments). But there is a difference from the analogs - instead of completely blocking the advertisement, Brave will show the user harmless ads that do not burden the PC or mobile device. Users may opt out of such an option, but in this case they will not be able to receive a reward. Yes, a regular user will receive bitcoins from Brave for viewing ads.

Payments will be made by advertisers for a certain number of views, and Brave aggregates these payments into a single amount. Sites that will participate with the "case" will receive about 55% of the money, depending on the number of views on each site. But users will receive a reward of 15%.

Publishers and users will receive payments on their own bitcoin wallets, but this will need to be verified. Namely - specify the e-mail, phone number and fulfill some other requirements. Users who have not been verified will not receive the money, but their share is also calculated, and automatically sent to site owners who these users themselves visit more often than others.

Why such a model is better than others (at least, the creators of the new browser claim that, according to them, advertising that will be shown to Brave users will be faster than advertising from advertising networks, plus it will be completely safe for the user. Information about users will be collected ( Yes, it sounds strange, considering the statements about focusing on the user's security), but anonymized, without identifiers that help in certain circumstances to know the person’s identity. The information collected will be used To display personalized advertising.

If the user does not want to see ads at all, he can opt out of this option, as mentioned above. But in this case, you have to choose a subscription, and pay a certain amount to the creators of the browser monthly.
