How icons were created for the Supergab

It so happened that we were instructed to draw icons for the new Habrakhabr (at that time he was not yet a Superhabr). At first we were delighted, but then we were frightened - our work will be strictly evaluated by all progressive people, including many designers and people who understand design. But we gathered our strength and got to work. First you had to choose the style of icons ...

We started brainstorming:
- What is the most important thing in Habrahabr?
- Karma?
- Huyarma! By no means! The most important thing in Habré is content !

It was decided that the icons should not be bright, so as not to make the Habralent too motley and not distract from the topics. This panel has set the overall style:

Small icons do not have shadows, but some of them have different states. The icons of the topics, which are larger, cast barely noticeable shadows.

Developers of Habr liked the icons and we continued working. Icons for blogs and companies were drawn.

The Habraindicator icon deserves a separate story. This icon is one of the most important, it means the power of Habrachelovek. In the previous version of Habr a bullet was drawn on it. New Habra - a new weapon! We drew a bomb that is much more powerful than a bullet.

This icon caused great interest among Habralyuds. It seemed to one that it was a mine for a mortar, to others that it was a dirigible. There is no stable name yet, someone calls this piece “Habrabomb”, someone “Habrajabl”, and someone just “Bomb”.

Next, we drew icons for the toolbar on the page for creating a new topic:

If we increase the icon “insert a picture”, then we clearly see a polaroid image of an unidentified flying object, around which many legends walk on Habré.

In the old Habré, the blog subscription metaphor was an electrical cord with a plug. We used this idea, but made the icon more understandable and combined it with the function “information about the blog.”

We really enjoyed working on this project, we hope that we were able to please even the most demanding and strict people. We will be very happy with good ideas on how to make the graphics on Habré even better.
