I think, on Geektimes there is a lot of those who found
filmstrips in due time. I found, in my childhood I watched them almost every day. And although many knew almost by heart, I did not bother to look through these films. These stories were made very well for their time, including the storyline and decoration. Yes, and with the very process of preparing the projector to work, its warming up, a special smell, the very atmosphere of viewing - I liked it all very much.
Filmstrips, surprisingly, did not die at all over time, and even computer telephones did not destroy filmstrips as a class. On the contrary, for PC and phones, programs that mimic the demonstration of filmstrips are released, showing digitized versions of films of that time. But now it’s a great moment to be nostalgic - the Russian State Library is going to digitize all the filmstrips it has. And this, for a minute - about 16 thousand films.
There are already more than a hundred digitized filmstrips on
the RGDB website . Work is in full swing.

Remember these screensavers at the very beginning of the film?“We are replenishing the collection of filmstrips with films from the beginning of the 1970s from the collection of the RSHB. Fairy tales (not only Russian), legends, stories are fantastic, funny and instructive, educational materials - filmstrips do not cease to amaze with diversity! We hope that high image quality and ease of operation will make viewing enjoyable! ”, The library’s website says.
By the way, as it turned out, the filmstrips are not a hundred and not a thousand, but as many as 16,000 films. And all of them are planned to be digitized by the end of 2016. For this purpose, a special technology has been developed, with the help of which 1,500 works were digitized.
