Radeon Pro Duo is the world's first specialized platform for creators of VR content. She carries on board immediately two 28-nm graphic processors Fiji. Each chip combines 4096 stream processors, 256 texture units and 64 rasterization blocks and reserves 4 GB of HBM video memory for itself. The task assigned to the developers of Radeon Pro Duo was formulated like this: “Assess what happens if you combine the capabilities of drivers for professional developers and game drivers and create a promising platform that will not only easily render applications, but also get maximum pleasure from the gameplay.” - said Hook. The idea was implemented and embodied in a dual-processor Radeon Pro Duo. According to Hook, this decision will open up to developers the opportunity to significantly reduce the impact of the delay, which is critically important when creating VR worlds.
Like nVidia, AMD sees virtual reality as one of the priority areas of development and invests heavily in development. One of the projects implemented by the company together with the Associated Press partner is a VR news aggregator. Another intriguing project is the development of a VR application based on the future Assassin's Creed film, which is being conducted jointly with Fox Studios.
In the free sale of the product will appear in the second quarter of this year at the recommended price of $ 1500.
Performance differences between various dual-processor graphics cards
A series of tests was conducted in the AMD Performance Labs lab on March 7, 2016. Cards with two AMD Radeon Pro Duo, AMD Radeon R9 295X2 and Nvidia Titan Z graphics cards with a test system based on Intel i7 5960X and 16GB of RAM took part in the “race”.

AMD Radeon Pro Duo finished with a noticeable margin, gaining 20150, 11466 and 6211 points respectively, overtaking both AMD Radeon R9 295X2 and Titan Z.
However, AMD Radeon Pro Duo is the first product of the new AMD VR Ready Creator line. As part of the presentation, AMD announced it had entered into a partnership agreement with Crytek, with which it plans to launch the VR First program together. The goal of the project is to train students in the development of VR applications. As part of this program, it is planned to install computers equipped with an AMD Radeon Pro Duo in college laboratories around the world.
