Lenovo Yoga: a brief history and mini-review of the Yoga 900
For a couple of months I have been using the Lenovo Yoga 900 instead of the Yoga 11S and U410 Touch as the main working device - the new ultrabook has replaced both gadgets. Yoga 900 got a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 3200 x 1800, just between 11.6 "and 14" of my old laptops, high performance - the latest sixth generation Intel Core i7 and 16 GB of RAM, and light weight - 1, 3 kg. In this post - a brief excursion into the history of Yoga and a brief overview of the model Yoga 900.
Although the transformers have a rich history, the popularity of the Lenovo Yoga form factor led to the fact that similar gadgets with touchscreens began to release HP, Dell and Acer and many smaller manufacturers, and the French Archos in August 2015 in general to a press release about their own The hybrid laptop has a photo of Lenovo Yoga attached .

Lenovo, Microsoft, HP, Dell and Intel launched the first large-scale joint advertising in their history in 2015. With this campaign, they wanted to tell about the new features of the devices - the duration of battery life, the use of both tablets and good speakers.
Yoga 11
Lenovo launched the Yoga line of laptops in 2012, with Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11 and 13. The first Yoga 11 was built on the Nvidia Tegra 3 1.3 GHz with an integrated graphics processor, had 2 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB SSD - today This is more like the characteristics of an average smartphone or tablet. The device was running Windows RT, Microsoft Office 2013 was pre-installed on the laptop. The laptop was criticized for the operating system, under which applications for earlier versions of Windows were not available.
Yoga 13
The 13-inch transformer Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 received a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. This is a more serious machine: Intel Core 3rd generation i3 / i5 / i7 processor, up to 8 G of RAM, LG 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1600 × 900 pixels and up to 256 GB SSD, Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro operating system . And the most interesting is the same reversal mechanism and a very comfortable AccuType keyboard that will be used in new versions of IdeaPad Yoga.
Yoga 11S
In 2013, I wrote a review of the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S Ultrabook Transformer . This laptop was already delivered with WIndows 8 Pro, and not with a stripped down RT. And he did not receive a processor, Nvidia Tegra, which was equipped with mobile devices on Android, but a full 2-core Intel Core i7 1500 MHz, as much as 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD.
After three years, I continue to use it. Or rather, it’s mostly used by my wife and two-year-old daughter. The laptop went through a lot, including three apartment renovations, repeated falls to the floor and a hammer from Ikea falling from it a meter high.

Yoga 2 Pro
If you can call the IdeaPad Yoga 11S a hybrid of a tablet and a laptop, then Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro is already an “ultrabook”. In the maximum configuration, the device came with i7 4500U, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD and Intel Wireless Display technology. The device weighs from 1.39 kg, has a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 3200x1800. From the ports - USB 2.0, micro-HDMI, card reader. According to the manufacturer, one battery charge can be stretched for 9 hours. The colors are the same classic orange and gray.
ThinkPad Yoga
In 2013, at the IFA in Berlin, Lenovo showed a new ultrabook - crossed the lines of Yoga and ThinkPad to get ThinkPad Yoga. With good performance and thus red trackpoint.
And this ultrabook has a stylus for a version with a 12.5-inch Full HD screen. Unlike other Yoga, the keyboard when rotated 360 degrees retracts into the body.

ThinkPad Yoga 14
The business notebook ThinkPad Yoga 14 in 2014 received a 14-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, a turning system and saved the trackpoint. Customers can choose a version with an Intel Core i5 with a built-in video card or with a discrete Nvidia GeForce 840M. The device is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and a terabyte hard drive with 16 GB SSD-cache.
Yoga 3 Pro
In October 2014, I flew to London to present Lenovo new products in order to be the first to announce updates. One of the most anticipated gadgets at the time was the thinnest and lightest 13-inch ultrabook in the world - Yoga 3 Pro. It weighs only 1.17 kilograms, and the new rotary system allows you to turn the laptop on the table so that it lies on it the whole plane. According to the experience of using both variants of the hinge systems, this one is better.
The main competitor of Yoga was considered a MacBook Air - and Yoga was easier on one iPhone.
The device works on Intel Core M-5Y70 with a frequency of 1.1 GHz, accelerated to 2.6 GHz. The display is 13.3 inches with a resolution of 3200x1800 pixels.
Lenovo Yoga 900
In October 2015, Lenovo, together with Microsoft, showed Yoga 900 at a presentation in San Francisco. Yoga 900 is an updated version of Yoga 3 Pro. The manufacturer worked on problems with overheating of the laptop and increased the duration of work from a single battery charge. My version of the transformer received an Intel Core i7 Skylake 2.5 GHz processor, 16 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of SSD. There are versions with 512 GB SSD, Core i5 processors and 8 GB of RAM. In addition to the two USB ports, the gadget received USB 3.0 and a card reader for SD, MMC, SDXC, SDHC.
The screen is a very colorful, 13.3-inch QHD + (3200x1800). This is one of the thinnest ultrabooks on Intel Core i - the case thickness is 14.9 mm. The gadget weighs 1.3 kg.
Operating time on one charge - up to 10 hours.
The turning mechanism consists of 813 individual parts and is similar to a wristwatch bracelet. At the same time, for some reason, the dirt is not clogged with gears.
For comparison - deployed Yoga 11S and Yoga 900.
The thickness of the 11S with a 11.6-inch display is 17 mm, and the 13.3-inch Yoga 900 is 14.9 mm.
If on other Yoga in the upper left corner, the Lenovo logo was on the outside of the screen, this time the company decided to select the line itself and put the YOGA logo on that place, and the Lenovo logo moved the lower right corner. Because YOGA is now positioned as an ultrabook premium segment. In Russia, its price in this configuration exceeds 120 thousand rubles.
Lenovo has long been working with Dolby . The laptop received JBL premium stereo speakers with premium Dolby Home Theater technology.
The keyboard is still the same AccuType, familiar and very convenient for me.
On the right side of the ultrabook is a power button, a hard reset, image rotation lock, a headphone jack and a USB port. On the left - the entrance to the charger, USB, microUSB and card reader.
Leather case, unfortunately, is not included.
Lenovo Yoga 900S
The next model in the Yoga lineup will be the 900S ultrabook. At the moment, this is the thinnest transformer laptop on the planet - its thickness is 12.8 mm, and it weighs 999 grams - a bit heavier than my 13.3-inch Lenovo Tablet 2 Pro tablet , which my two-year-old daughter carries around with her to watch cartoons on Youtube.
This ultrabook has a pen that recognizes 2048 degrees of depression. Display - IPS with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. Sound - Dolby Home Theater stereo speakers.
The laptop will get in the maximum configuration processor 2nd generation Intel Core M7. On the site, the manufacturer writes that the battery will provide almost a day of battery life, and when viewing HD video from a memory card from local storage at a brightness of 200 nits and Wi-Fi turned off, it will work 10.5 hours.
