By accessibility of mobile Internet, Russia ranks second in the world

According to the results of the study of tariffs by the Content Review analytical agency, it became clear that among the fifty countries with the largest GDP, Russia is in second place in the rating of the cost of mobile access. Cheaper than the Russian mobile Internet was only in Iran (operator Hamrah-e-Avval).

Compared with the previous study conducted in the fall of 2015, many countries have increased the cost of mobile gigabytes. The reasons were the global financial crisis, the volatility of national currencies and the decline in the purchasing power of the population. For example, in Pakistan and Qatar, the price of the Internet has almost doubled.

European operators have increased tariffs in view of the impending cancellation of roaming within the EU and the need to take into account in the traffic packages a certain amount of mobile Internet, which their subscribers can use when traveling around Europe. At the same time, in part of the countries the price competition between operators increased, as a result of which the price of a gigabyte decreased significantly.

Tariffs from the leader of the mobile market (in Russia it was “Megaphone”) took part in the comparison, and package tariffs equal or close in volume to 3 GB of traffic were taken, which corresponds to the average monthly mobile Internet consumption level. According to Russian operators, the average monthly consumption of mobile Internet by subscribers in 2015 varied between 2.5 and 3.5 gigabytes, which corresponds to global trends.

In the last place, with the most expensive Internet, is Venezuela - there access will cost 13.5 times more expensive than Russian. Perhaps this is due to the unsuccessful monetary policy of the authorities, which provoked hyperinflation in the country. In the so-called “Developed” countries with an expensive standard of living, the Internet is also an expensive pleasure. In the United States, Britain, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, the cost of the Internet is 5-9 times higher than in Russia.

In addition to Iran and Russia, inexpensively sit on the site geektimes.ru you can in Poland, Pakistan, Indonesia, Sweden, Finland, Egypt and Kazakhstan. Perhaps, against the general background, only Scandinavian countries stand out, where, with an expensive standard of living, Internet access is considered an inalienable civil right .
