Administration Rutracker.org plans to get the domain Rutracker.ru
If this happens, the blocked tracker will again be available in Russia.

Today it became known that the administration of the torrent tracker RuTracker.org blocked in the Russian Federation is negotiating the acquisition of the domain Rutracker.ru. Now this domain name belongs to another torrent tracker, which has no relation to its more popular "relative". If the domain succeeds in buying, the blocked resource will again be available to Russian users, according to Izvestia.

True, blocking bypass in the Russian Federation in this case is not at all the main goal. “We don’t care much about blocking, it’s much more important for us that users may mistakenly get to phishing sites that steal passwords,” commented the situation at a Rutracker.org administration representative.
This resource is currently owned by Dreamtorrents. In 2012, she received in Russia the rights to two trademarks - RuTracker and RuTrackerorg. In theory, a company can simply sue the domain RuTracker.ru, but so far it has no plans to do so. “RuTracker is our registered trademark. Nevertheless, we are not going to sue RuTracker.ru, ”the press service of RuTracker.org reports.
The Russian domain is needed by the company in order not to mislead users, who sometimes confuse the domain zone (according to rumors, such users include Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev). Dreamtorrents cannot offer a lot of money for the ru-domain, but it can allocate some amount.
Domain RuTracker.ru now belongs to the founder of this resource, Oleg Volkov. He has already stated that he agrees to sell the domain name, but the offered price has not yet satisfied him. “From 100 thousand rubles you can start a conversation. But until I am eager to sell it, ”he commented on the situation.
The tracker, which is now working on a domain in the zone. Ru, is not too popular, and the right holders have not yet filed a lawsuit for blocking the site for life. Thus, if Rutracker.org receives this domain, then Russian users will be able to easily access a torrent tracker that is not available now from the Russian Federation. However, Anatoly Semyonov, the presidential representative for the protection of the rights of entrepreneurs in the field of intellectual property, believes that it will be possible to work on the new Rutracker.org domain for a month or two. After that, the right holders will block in the Russian Federation and this mirror, by submitting a relevant lawsuit to the Moscow City Court.
Let me remind you that earlier the administration of RuTracker.org prepared 100 new domains in case of loss of the main one. Now the law does not spell out the concept of “site mirror” and “copy of the site”, so the courts do not have the right to automatically block copies and mirrors of blocked resources. A recent precedent is the Moscow City Court’s refusal to decide on blocking mirrors and copies of Rutracker.
