It's time to prepare for the Day of Cosmonautics and St. George's Night
Little more than a month left before Cosmonautics Day. This year will be an anniversary, 55 years of Gagarin’s flight, and events are beginning to be marked on the world map. Unlike the previous year, the first marked event in Russia has already appeared. Roscosmos also published its emblems and slogans of the event. And if the name “Yuriev night” cuts off your ears, let's try to find the most beautiful translation.
Official information Roscosmos
On February 25, Roskosmos presented the emblem and slogan of the anniversary year:
')
We invite everyone who is interested in space, who dreams of distant planets, for whom Russia's space activity is a part of life, to join us.Participate in our events, write about the history and modern times of the Russian cosmonautics, about the heroes, thanks to whom the feat of Yuri Gagarin became a reality, shoot and record your video and audio clips.Send materials to Gagarin55@roscosmos.ru, and we will publish the best works on the website or on social networks of ROSCOSMOS.Let's remember together how it was and dream about the future - after all, everything is just beginning!
Yuriev night
Unlike Cosmonautics Day, St. George's Night is a more informal event. For it is suitable not only a popular science event, but also a themed party, watching fiction at home, but almost anything. At the same time, the number and themes of the events noted make it possible to assess well the interest in space in the country. For example, the second place in terms of the number of events in 2015 was taken by Iran. And this is despite the fact that the events were serious, were held in planetariums and universities, and the date April 12 is in no way connected with the Iranian space program. At the same time, Russian events are rarely marked on this map. In my opinion, the Cosmonautics Night perfectly complements the Cosmonautics Day and these names do not interfere with each other. Accordingly, if you have not yet thought about how to celebrate this wonderful holiday, I dare to offer a couple of ideas and brief instructions on how to register an event and try to overtake at least Iran (the United States had 72 events in 2015, they will have to catch up with them for a long time) .
Event Ideas
As a person who "falls ill" with the space program after watching good films in a row, I confirm that "of all the arts, cinema is the most important for us." If the event is planned to be public, then freely available films can be used for it without copyright issues:
"The first orbit . " Experimental film of 2011. On the route of the ISS flight, as close as possible to the flight of Gagarin, a record of negotiations, news and atmospheric music was imposed. And this movie can be crossed with the Orbiter simulator .
“Gagarin: The First in Space” 2013 about the flight and biography of Gagarin.
“The Dish” (“Plate”) of 2000, in which you can look at the American lunar program from an unexpected side through the eyes of Australian employees of the Parks radio telescope.
October sky (October sky) of 1999, showing how space can carry along with itself even in a remote mining province.
There is just enough time to ask around your friends if someone had a telescope or good binoculars lying around in the closet. In the evening in the area on April 12, the Moon will be in the first quarter. This means that it will be visible in the evenings, and its lighting conditions will be very good for observation. Immediately after sunset, Jupiter will be visible in the southern part of the sky, its four satellites can be seen even with good binoculars. And after midnight Mars and Saturn will ascend.

Let's define
Last year, I noticed a serious rejection of the translation option "St. George's Night." Therefore, I suggest you choose a translation option that you like best (or suggest your own in the comments, I will add it as soon as possible). Who knows, maybe the new version will be better and take root? Voting is valid until March 12.
