Caterpillar introduced the smartphone with a thermal imager

Thermal cameras for smartphones are quite a popular accessory, they are actively used by builders (searching for problems with thermal insulation), tourists, hunters. But until now, such devices were sold separately. Now the situation has changed - Caterpillar, the manufacturer of CAT protected smartphones, has introduced a model of a phone with a thermal imager. Novelty called S60, is a protected device with a sealed enclosure, protected from water.

Like all other models of the company, S60 is not afraid of shock, water and dust. Now added a thermal imager, infrared camera with a resolution of 640 * 480. The company claims that such a smartphone can be used by rescuers to search for people in the rubble, the police, electricians and farmers. Of course, there are many examples of using a thermal imager, and its integration with a smartphone is an excellent solution.

As for the characteristics of the device, they are quite decent. OS - Android Marshmallow, processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 617, LTE, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera. The phone can be immersed under water to a depth of 5 meters for about an hour. Battery capacity - 3800 mAh, the display diagonal - 4.7 inches. The display is protected by 1 mm thick Gorilla Glass 4 glass. As a test, the phone was dropped from a height of 1.8 meters 26 times, and it was by no means dropped on a layer of cotton wool.

The device should appear in late May, its price will be about $ 599 (for the US). And this is a great price, as a standalone thermal imager for the iPhone costs $ 249.
