The St. Petersburg City Court upheld the decision to close the MDK public on VKontakte.

The judge rejected the complaint of the owner of the MDK trademark, Sarafanka LLC, which owns 30% of the community, and the main owner of the Hermes LLC public corporation against the decision of the Smolninsky District Court of October 27, 2015. Then the district court decided to limit access to information in the MDK community throughout Russia, reports Fontanka.ru .

Many users associate a lawsuit with the publication of offensive pictures in the public after the death of the popular singer Jeanne Friske. Then, in the summer of 2015, this caused a public outcry and the creation of a petition on change.org to shut down the public as immoral.

However, the MDK public came to the attention of law enforcement agencies earlier, in the spring of 2015, after the publication of pictures insulting believers' feelings on Easter (images of Jesus Christ with offensive posts and signs due to which one of the citizens appealed to the prosecutor's office). This led to the community being accused of violating the laws “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations” and “On Information, Information Technologies and Protection of Information”.

In addition to insulting the feelings of believers in the course of the trial, it was revealed that 695 albums contain from 400 to 600 pornographic photos, which also, according to law enforcement agencies, can negatively affect the psyche of children.

MDK was created in spring 2011 and has more than 7 million subscribers, being one of the largest communities on Vkontakte.
