Amazon’s zombie apocalypse clause has been included in Amazon’s web services terms

On the eve of Amazon Web Services launched a new service GameLift and opened access to the free open three-dimensional game engine Lumberyard. In this regard, the rules for using services have been updated on the AWS website - in particular, items related to the game engine have been added. At one point, the company's lawyers decided to mention the rules for using new services in the case of a zombie apocalypse.

Paragraph 57.10 reads:

The acceptability of use and systems that are critical to safety. Use of Lumberyard Materials should be in accordance with the AWS Acceptable Use Policy. Lumberyard Materials cannot be used in systems on which life or safety depends - medical equipment management, automatic transport systems, ro-mobiles, flight control, nuclear power plants, spacecraft, or military applications associated with combat operations. This restriction does not apply to cases (confirmed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) of the spread of a viral infection transmitted through bites or contact with bodily fluids, causing human corpses to come to life and go in search of live flesh, blood, brain or nervous tissue, and can lead to the fall of human civilization.

Apparently, Amazon thus flirts with the target audience - game developers, among whom games, movies and TV shows about zombies are always popular. The rest of the usage agreement looks pretty strict.

Lumberyard is a game engine distributed by the Internet giant for free. The company plans to earn money on its web services - the use of AWS, Twitch and Double Helix is integrated into the engine. It is understood that the creators of multiplayer games will use these services.

However, Amazon generously allows you to create single-player games on this engine that do not require an internet connection. The Lumberyard engine is based on another well-known game engine, CryEngine, which Amazon bought a license from Crytek last summer for $ 50 million.
