The concept of a single device that can be applied in various, often mutually exclusive situations, has received support from Canonical, which announced the Ubuntu Tablet.
As long as an external mouse and keyboard are not connected to the tablet, it communicates with the user using the Ubuntu Touch interface, which has already been repeatedly tested on Ubuntu Phone smartphones.
But, it is necessary to connect a keyboard and a mouse via bluetooth, as usual desktop Ubuntu will appear before us.
Also, the device has a micro HDMI connector for the ability to work on a large monitor.
As an idea that very soon will be realized in a mass product, the Ubuntu Tablet just looks like it’s gone: on the road and on the run, we have a tablet with a “finger-oriented” interface. It is worth finding a place to place the tablet in a horizontal position, mouse and keyboard - and voila - working on a 10 inch laptop with a full Ubuntu. Came home / in office - connected to a large monitor.
But, perhaps, the characteristics of the device seem to many insufficient to actually replace the home / work computer, and without this, the concept of a single device is destroyed.
Ubuntu Tablet (BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition) will be produced by partner Canonical - the Spanish company BQ.
The stated characteristics:
- 10 inch screen

- 8 megapixels main camera and 5 megapixels front

')
The tablet model with the same characteristics (BQ M10), but running Android, has been produced since last year and costs 189 Euro on the BQ.com website.
I would like to hope that the price of the Ubuntu version will not be much different in a big way.
