Huge battle humanoid robot Night Fox II - presentation at the Moscow Art Institute

There are 13 days left before the fighting of robots Bronebot-2016 at the Olympic . It's time to introduce the main robot in the arena - the Night Fox II referee robot. Night Fox will play the role of a judge in the ring - to judge the robots in the arena and immediately execute the sentence, throw out the broken ones and put new ones in place. The machine is the fruit of the joint activities of the two institutions participating in Bronebot-2016 - MHPI and MAI. That is why the construction is “conversion”, the parts were mostly removed from the retired MIGs and Sushek:

An interesting story of the robot.



In 2013, a group of enthusiastic students of the Moscow Arts and Crafts Institute created a “Patriot” transforming robot with a height of 7.5 meters, which was based on parts from a UAZ vehicle. Also, the second walking robot “Gas-holder” was created, which became the most popular object in view of the possibility for viewers to penetrate its control cabin. Both robots were presented at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2013 and at the Youth Forum Seliger 2013.



The project Night Fox I of 2015 was developed jointly by the SVO of the Moscow Art and Industry Institute and the Moscow Aviation Institute FSBOU VPO to promote stage robots and original aircraft. The first prototype was presented at the MAKS 2015 exhibition. He was a model of a drone, based on the historic aircraft " Newpor 17 " with an authentic coloring and emblem of a black fox.



Night Fox II 2016 was created for presentations and shows, controlled from the operator’s cabin or remotely from the control panel. The robot is equipped with powerful aviation weapons, flamethrower, hydraulics and has a brand battle color. The inspiration for its creation served as a famous film about bikers "Sons of Anarchy", created by analogy with the famous American club "Hell's Angels", which was founded by pilots of fighters and bombers of the Second World War. From combat aircraft was based on the logo of a flying skull with wings.

Note that in all these frames there are the premises of the institute, that is, they really study here and receive state diplomas. All the walls to the ceiling are painted with signs of anarchy and skulls, and the audience is located right in the middle of the former caramel shop. Honestly, all my life I imagined an institute as the exact opposite.





It’s time to start the show - they started with robots, sorry, I didn’t take pictures of them properly, but the frames show a cool homemade helicopter, which seems to have no body or frame at all - so much economically all the elements are attached to a flat supporting frame.



And here is the head of the MAIN robotics Vitaly Polyansky - his team was doing a giant robot and now they are doing a fighting robot for the arena. The report from their workshop should be the brightest - after all, they have half of the real MIG-23 standing there, which they naturally take apart for their combat robot.
