A few days ago, the Internet Archive posted on the Web dozens of old viruses that worked under DOS, creating the
Malware Museum . In the “museum” there are about 80 classic viruses that many users of that time faced.
Now there is another museum - this time the old programs that worked under Windows 3.1. The developers have placed the most popular applications at that time, including both purely working tools and games. Find all this in the new section of
the Windows 3.X Showcase . In total 1523 programs are placed here, their number continues to increase. In the browser, all this works thanks to the JavaScript-emulator Windows 3.1.
The developers
said that some parts of this project were always in their hands. Almost all of the software was kept by representatives of the project team on various media. In addition, some programs were sent by enthusiasts who heard about the preparation of a new section on the Internet Archive.

After the number of collected programs reached a certain number, the developers began to create a Win 3.1 emulator. It was not an easy task, but volunteers coped with it.

Plus, there is also an emulation of Windows 95 preview - those who found it all in due time will be happy to see the “old” operating system again.

Naturally, a lot of software is copyrighted, and developers needed to take this moment into account. Therefore, some programs were replaced with free analogues - and some had to be put off in the back office for this very reason.

In general, the time to start remembering the past.
