The initiative group of Emojination comrades advocates the inclusion in the extensive list of emoji icons already present in the Unicode standard a schematic representation of the dumpling. The group launched a
crowdfunding campaign “The Dumpling Emoji Project” to raise funds for this noble goal and has already raised more than $ 11,000, with a stated need of $ 3,750.
Analogues of dumplings are in almost all cuisines of the world. Dumplings (in Poland, they are called "
pierogi "),
ravioli ,
khinkali ,
empanada ,
jiaozi ... But, as described in the "dumpling" fundraising campaign, emoji for pizza, hamburger and taco - is, and for the dumplings - not. It is planned to correct this injustice by joining the committee approving the expansion of the Unicode standard.

This privilege costs $ 2500 per year - for members who do not have the right to vote ($ 18,000 per year must be given for the right to vote, and only 11 members of the committee use this).
As awards for the
project investors, pictures, t-shirts, bags, posters, cookbooks, frozen dumplings of different varieties from the project partners are offered. For a $ 2,500 contribution, participants will be invited to a party (in the US), and for $ 5,000, you can join the Emojination board of directors.
At the moment, the dumpling is already present among
79 emoji candidates for inclusion in Unicode. Usually the committee approves most of the additions that have passed the preliminary filter. But voting on this issue will take place only in a year, the decision will officially come into force in the summer of 2017 - and after that there will still be some time before major companies like Google and Apple will establish support for new emoji in their software products.
Emoji is an ideogram and emoticon language used in emails and web pages. This graphic language, where instead of words used combinations of pictures, appeared in Japan and spread around the world. A related concept is
emoticons - pictograms depicting emotion, and originally composed of typographic marks. A well-known example of emoticons is a
smiley made up by an American professor :-)
