Android Wear updated to version 6.0 (Marshmallow)

Many owners of smart watches based on the Android Wear platform can be happy - Google has rolled out the long-awaited update of the operating system of its device. The first smart watch with this OS was the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE (back in November!). But for a number of reasons, LG has removed this device from all directories, only 6 days after the launch of sales.

With the departure of these watches, a new version of the OS, Marshmallow Android Wear, has left the market. And only now, in February, they decided to roll out the update again. The official Google blog says that the update will soon appear on all models of smart devices with Android Wear.

Thanks to the update, the new version of Android Wear can now send messages in any of the available instant messengers, and the control can be purely voice. The user then chooses which service to send his message to. It looks like this: “Ok, Google, send a WhatsApp message to Nathan: I'll be right there.” Google identifies the messenger that the owner of the watch wishes to use by the name that was said. The available instant messengers are Google Hangouts, Nextplus, Telegram, Viber, WeChat, and WhatsApp.

In addition, Android Wear now supports built-in speakers. So if your watch is equipped with this miracle of technology, you can listen to audio messages, and make calls directly from the device. There are two well-known models of watches on the market that have speakers. This is the Huawei Watch and ASUS ZenWatch 2 (49mm). Most likely, after receiving the update, these devices use their dynamics to the full.

On the same Huawei Watch, sound notifications will now work.

The third major update was the new sign gesture management feature. With gestures, you can now flip through a set of cards, select a separate card, resize it, or return to the previous menu.

By the way, Google did not indicate this in its post, but LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE has a built-in LTE modem. This fact does not make the watch autonomous, entirely, but in some cases it will be possible to connect with your phone via LTE.

Any other smart watches with an LTE modem on board will also be able to use it after upgrading to Android 6.0. At the moment, the watch from LG is still the first and only of its kind - LTE modem is only in them.
