Google will warn you about suspicious download buttons

Google has declared war on fake buttons like "Download", "Play" and other things that are used in social engineering, for example, to install malicious software on a computer. Now Google is expanding Safe Browsing technology, including such malicious content embedded in a web page.

If you try to access the site with such embedded content, a warning will appear.

Google’s security department lists several other examples besides the “Download” button when content is considered malicious. This happens in those cases if the site tries to force the user to perform an action and at the same time displays deliberately false information. For example, the first screenshot shows a message that the user allegedly needs to download a new version of the program. On the second - a message about the need to install the program FLV HD.

“Our struggle against unwanted software and social engineering is just beginning,” Google writes. “We will continue to improve Safe Browsing protection to help more people stay safe online.”
