It is not clear in what way and fabrications, but I had a hobby - modding flash drives. The path was thorny and intricate, about the same that brought me from space physics and a scientific institute to the IT sphere. But these are lyrics, so let's go on a journey through the history of creating a gift flash drive from a piece of horn, a pair of pieces of wood and a donor from Transcend.
Taking the horn of the Manchurian deer (well, there are familiar hunters), I estimated the length I needed, under the body and the cap. Sawing, do not forget to put labels, for a more beautiful coincidence of fibers and texture of the horn.

We drill and slightly expand the resulting holes so that the chip enters.

But then a little harder. Getting married! We learn that the wife is well redrawing pictures and ask her to apply the logo we need. Because as much as I didn’t fight and draw, everything turns out, but not the Dota icon.

According to the resulting pattern, we run an engraving machine around the contour, and drill 1 mm with the one that glows. We admire the accuracy and ergonomics of the holes made, but not for long.

With the help of diamond-coated tips, we try to bring everything into a digestible form, methodically grinding all that is superfluous. Photo intermediate state.

In the cap we are mounting the usb connector mother. This will allow the cap to close tightly and securely. Fix the connector inside the cap with epoxy, or poxypol.

The stage of creating bolsters - wooden spacers between the body and the cap - unfortunately did not fix. The essence of their purely decorative, two pieces of wood, tightly fitted to each other, with holes exactly under the connector of the flash drive. Bolsters give the product a more aesthetic look and close the unappetizing ends of the bone. Mine in this case is mahogany, I like the combination of mahogany and horn.
Putting it all together before gluing: body, bolsters, cap and flash drive. Final check for unnecessary gaps, warps, etc. Check how the logo will glow.

All stick together with epoxy. We also fill the holes that we so diligently drilled and grinded with epoxy: we do not need different garbage and water there. Check the brightness of the backlight after pouring.

Glue the wooden base to the flash drive and the top of the cap. We grind all the excess, grind, polish with wax.

We hang a chain with a suspension that will not let us lose (forget somewhere) our cap. Well, how can it be without a thematic casket: since all this was done for a person who is a fan of Ax from Dota2.

That's what we did. If you have questions, I will answer with pleasure.
