Bookmix: New Book Mix

Today I learned about the new book network - Bookmix .

I decided to try, everything new attracts me, and besides, I have not yet found a service that would satisfy me completely. I have tried many, but something is missing everywhere ... ( In my blog, I have already written about LiveLib book networks, My Library, Books in my hands, and Bookmate search engine. )


The main page briefly tells about the project, here the latest reviews, popular books, new arrivals, latest news and categories with genres are neatly displayed. On the right - personal account, search, rating of participants, tags and sales hits.

Registration is standard - we enter the required e-mail (it will be a login), first name, last name, gender, date of birth and password; Those who wish can immediately specify contact information (icq, skype and phone), upload an avatar, briefly tell about themselves.



Everything looks neat and stylish ( I will not say that this is a two-zero web, because I do not know what it is ), with taste, it seemed to me that everything is in its place. On navigation, I can say that it was convenient for me, no difficulties like “and where is this ...” arose.

Users can use groups (and create their own), as well as add news from the world of books. The project has no forum, and, it seems to me, is not needed, because it is possible to communicate in groups. Adding news is a step that not everyone decides; on the one hand, it’s very cool when users update the news feed, but on the other hand, there is a high probability of spam messages. The users themselves will probably fight the latter, voting for interesting materials.



Separately, I want to say thanks to the creators of the service for implementing the addition of the book. I have never seen such a detailed list with genres and categories on any book service! Now I don’t have to wrestle with adding a book, say, Umberto Eco. The role of the reader. Adding reviews is also well thought out: this is your little note with a title (you can vote for reviews too).



(And nevertheless there is a fly in the ointment - I don’t understand why the books being added don’t get into my reading list, as well as reviews. Apparently, the service dampness is to blame. twice, once with a review, even ...)

I still lack the convenient transfer of all books from a third-party service, or a convenient download at once with a list (well, in a certain format and all that), so as not to suffer. Therefore, I can not say how often I will use Bookmix. But I hope that the service will find its admirers, even despite the rather tough competition in the niche of social books.
