Indie games a-la Sierra-on-Line from early 1990s sample

I rarely pay for software, to say the least. But literally in the last few months I did it three times. And for the game. There is such a person in New York - Dave Gilbert . So this man now, after 15 years, is doing quests in the style of the Sierra-on-Line of the early nineties, I would say. An order of magnitude simpler and shorter, but Gabriel Knight: Sins of the fathers and Conquest of the longbow are remembered. A freely distributed 2D gaming engine is taken, a very nice sad detective script is written, there are sane artists who draw backgrounds and sprites of characters. A cool composer for the last time the game was released, Gilbert found somewhere in the region of Holland. All these searches occur in specialized game-dev forums, as I understood from the author’s comments, and the project participants almost never require payment. Character voicing is done by vociferous relatives and acquaintances of Gilbert plus some professional actors. The results of the work of this team are sold for $ 5-15 . To protect the product, the author decided not to bother at all, but simply to compile two options - full and demo. Surely somewhere lies on the ball and full, but I paid for all three games: Shivah about the rabbi in depression, and Blackwell Legacy and Unbound about how in a family of mediums the coercion is inherited, inclining these mediums to joint rescue stuck in the path to a better world of souls Goes to create such a knee-length quest up to six months, and Gilbert lives with it. The author is progressing noticeably from game to game. Great job, I think. In terms of profitability, of course, it is not comparable with the MMORPG, but some kind of cozy, untimely and very sweet. I was under the impression that I even downloaded the engine and began to make some of my textual developments to the format of the game script
