“Yesterday, Google announced the Chrome browser, and almost immediately provided an opportunity for Windows XP and Vista users to try it out. In a relatively short time of testing, Chrome has proved to be not only one of the fastest browsers, but actually the best of them.

Installing Google Chrome is quick and easy, loading and launching the browser takes literally seconds. Once launched, Chrome offers to import data from the Firefox browser, which pleasantly surprises.

The first thing that attracts attention in Chrome is an easy but tasteful interface. In Chrome, there is no confusion inherent in other browsers. On the contrary, bookmarks have become the main element of the browser, they can be easily dragged and moved as needed. This, of course, can be done in Safari, but in Crome everything is implemented much more conveniently.

Chrome also has an “Omnibox” element that allows you to both enter an address and search for information directly from the address bar. This functionality is implemented in Firefox, but when you visit certain sites, such as Amazon.com, there is a smart search engine definition that allows you to search directly on Amazon.com and not just Google. This feature is easy to use and works great, it’s much easier to search for information.

One of the most interesting innovations is the home page. It is not organized as in other browsers. In Chrome, the homepage contains a list of all the sites most frequently visited by users, which is very convenient. Instead of viewing bookmarks or searching for the desired page, you can simply open Chrome and immediately see all frequently visited pages.

Immediately struck by the speed of Chrome. Loading and switching is amazingly fast. And the speed does not depend on the number of open bookmarks, as in some other browsers.

For those who do not want to “shine” their actions on the network, Chrome offers an incognito mode in which the browser does not record user actions. It works as stated, and it is very easy to enable or disable at any time.

One of the major problems with Firefox is that you can forget where files were uploaded if there are so many downloads at the same time. You can, of course, find everything in the “Downloads” tab, but in Chrome everything is implemented more conveniently: there is a download panel at the bottom of the screen, with which you can view the list of downloaded files and save them where you want. Nothing more will be lost.

But not everything is as perfect as we would like. There are still no versions for Mac OS X and Linux, and there is no convenient way to organize favorites. Worse, the browser doesn’t handle email links. Google states that this is only a preliminary release, and all these functions will be implemented in the next versions, but still I wanted to see them right away in the first version of the browser.

All in all, Google Chrome is excellent. It is not only fast, but also convenient. Made not only with taste, but also with an understanding of what users expect from a modern browser. And while Chrome has flaws that cannot be ignored, it has great potential. Download Chrome and you won’t regret it. ”
