Good morning :)
On Habré occasionally skip articles on the quality of IT-education in Russian universities. As an IT student, I just could not stand aside, so I decided to publish this note. From the rest of the articles of a similar subject that I read here, it is perhaps a little more practical.
So, on the nose of the first of September, the beginning of the school year for pupils and students. For some it is a holiday, for someone the opposite. And there are those who are skeptical of the Day of Knowledge, as if anticipating that no one will give them knowledge again. More precisely will give, but not those that I would like.
This post is an attempt to unite such people with the aim of independently-jointly extracting the necessary knowledge :) It sounds strange, of course, but I hope I understand. Naturally, the first thing you will be asked about the feasibility of such an association. I will try to give the advantages of a group approach:
- Together more interesting.
- Less likely to abandon the extraction of knowledge due to loss of interest.
- The total stock of basic knowledge and skills of all participants is much more than that of one person -> it is easier in the first couple.
- You will always be shown errors if you are obviously not going there :)
This, of course, ideally. I do not know yet what reaction this proposal will cause and whether it will be heard at all, so I will not describe the implementation plan. If there are at least a few people, it will be possible to discuss this in a closed way. I can only say that all the participants in this ... hm ... project will actively communicate with each other, so the main options are 2:
- Creating a sharpened web for our needs (2.0?) - a resource.
- Jabber-konf / IRC / mail-list, etc.
Perhaps, first the second, then a smooth transition to the first (it takes time to create the site).
I also note that the objectives of the study can be not only IT, but still with a bias in technology. An approximate plan for the first time might be:
- Neural networks (theory, practice)
- Quantum computers (theory)
- The study of the edges of human perception (practice)
- Basics of genetic engineering and breeding (theory, practice)
- Team development of open-source projects (practice)
- Programming microcontrollers (practice)
- Design Basics (Theory, Practice)
This is just what my unsupported brain betrayed. But no one forces to study all / exactly these questions. You can take something from this and offer something of your own. In general, I am waiting for feedback.

UPD: Anyone interested, unsubscribe in the comments. As soon as I arrive (now on the train, I will have something to do on the road :)), I will answer and try to collect everyone. Approximately in 2-3 days.
