Google offers 15-day compensation for Gmail crashes

After three serious failures that occurred in the work of Gmail in early August, Google decided to pay compensation to all users of the Google Apps Premier paid service. The administrator of each paid account received a message stating that Google automatically renews its one-year subscription to Google Apps Premier for 15 days at no additional charge.

Subscribing to Google Apps Premier costs $ 50 per year per user, while the company guarantees uptime 99.9% of the service. However, both free and paid Gmail did not work for almost two hours on August 11 for almost all users (users received an error message when they entered the mailbox). Two more failures occurred on August 6 and 15 and affected only a small number of clients.

In a letter, Google admits that in August they did not work very well, they promise to fix it. In particular, they will soon roll out a new information system, with the help of which administrators can visually monitor the technical condition of the service, see all error messages and their causes.

The Google Apps service (except Premier, it has two more free versions) is used by more than 500,000 companies worldwide with a total number of active users of about 10 million. The paid version accounts for a few percent of this number.
