uRSSus - for those who have not yet found a convenient RSS reader

Already about half a year I live completely in Ubunt. During this time, I tried a lot of all kinds of software from different subject areas in search of my ideal. Blyagodarya Habra learned about a very convenient ICQ qutIM ( habratopeky number of times , habratopeky number ++ times ). But with the RSS reader it somehow did not add up. I tried several from the ubuntu repository, installed a couple of third-party ones, but didn’t worry at all (I lived with FeedReader under Windows and was quite happy with myself). Under Ubunta, until recently, he used the Akregator , but according to some indicators, he did not particularly suit me.

About a month ago I found out about the uRSSus project, tried it, and stayed on it.

The project supports many features of modern RSS readers, as well as a couple of unique ones (at least unique to me):

- update all feeds at a given time interval
- update of certain feeds through an individually specified interval
- indication of unread feeds in the tray icon (the icon shows only the presence of unread feeds, the number can be found in the tooltip when you hover the mouse)
- notification of new articles in selected feeds
- splitting feeds into folders
- import / export to OPML
- important news
- feed filtering and search
- metaphids for selecting all unread news or important news
- posting news on twitter
- iport feeds with google reader
- some types of display (classic, wide, combined)
')

Like most projects for linux, uRSSus is an open source project, hosted on code.google.com . The project is written in Python, the graphical shell on PyQT4. The latter caused some difficulties when trying to install the Ussuntu Ussuntu, where the WebKit component was not found in the PyQt library. As a result, I had to update PyQt from the backport repository, and then also put 2 packages from the debian repository. Perhaps there was a simpler solution, but for me it was not so obvious.

The stable project branch is in version 0.2.10, but I use the code from the repository. That is why sometimes I act in a project as QA =)

UPD : kindly requested not to start holivars on the topic of “off-line web readers”. Each of the approaches has its pros and cons. This topic is about one of the programs, and not about the methods of reading rss tapes.
