In addition to SpaceX, there are other organizations that are planning or are planning to send a man to Mars. The most famous such project is Mars One. But lately, the project has a lot of problems, and some participants in the project believe that Mars One is designed for money laundering. Even with SpaceX, the plans for sending a man to Mars are not very clear. It is known, in particular, that the company is developing a methane engine for a rocket, Raptor. This engine may be used in a rocket that will fly to the Red Planet. However, there is no detailed plan yet, although it is being worked out.

So, Shotwell believes that sending colonists to Mars at one end is wrong, SpaceX is going to establish a full-fledged colony with the possibility of returning people to Earth. So, to throw people on Mars using a rocket, and then wait another 30 years until a new rocket is created - this is the path that SpaceX will not use. Now the company plans the following:

Increase number of launches

The company is going to establish a regular process of launching rockets into space, using all the platforms that SpaceX has. The plans - to achieve an indicator of 96 missile launches per year.

New rocket

The company restarts the Falcon 9 project this summer, planning to work with version 1.2 of the rocket. The new Falcon 9 is 30% more efficient than the previous version. At the same time, the updated rocket allows us to simplify the landing process, to re-work with the rocket.

Shotwell said that Google and the Fidelity investment fund invested about $ 1 billion dollars in space satellite communications in one of the SpaceX projects. But it was not an investment for the development of a global project - both investors plan to use this money to achieve their own commercial goals. SpaceX is planning to work on a global project that will link the Earth and other planets.

Now the company receives money on Earth, but all the interests of the company, all its projects are still focused on the development of Mars. And when a person gets on the Red Planet, he will already have the opportunity to use the "space Internet".
