Curiosity is back to work and continues his mission

Curiosity Route Map

As you know, on February 27 of this year, a nuisance happened to Curiosity: a short circuit in some section of the manipulator. All this time, NASA engineers studied the problem, trying to understand exactly where the short circuit happened, and how dangerous it is for the entire system. At present, the study and analysis of the causes of the malfunction is still ongoing, but the manipulator has already returned to work.

On March 11, the rover manipulator performed an operation to screen a rock sample with the delivery of this sample on board, for further study using the scientific tool CheMin. The sample was taken while drilling one of the wells in the Paramp Hills, a rock outlet near Sharpe Mountain. Now that the sample is in the right place, the rover team is going to send the rover to another region, Curiosity will leave the “Hills”.

It is worth noting that all two weeks, while the accident was being studied, the sample was in limbo in the manipulator. Now scientists are happy that the rock powder has come to the right place, and the mission will continue. By the way, it may well be that a short circuit occurred in the drill motor, and now scientists are trying to study all the possible consequences of the problem.

In the next few days, the rover will go to a hill near Sharpe Mountain, in an area called "Artist's Drive."
