A robot from the Far Eastern Federal University in robotics ranked second in the Asian Open Championship in underwater robotics

At the Asian Open Championship of Underwater Robotics in Singapore , the Junior robot was one of two that completed all the tasks. The first place was taken by a robot built by students of the National University of Singapore, and the third - by the North-West Technical University of China. The competition was attended by 20 teams from technical universities in the United States, Thailand, India, Singapore and other countries.


The robot development team took part in the First Open Asian Underwater Robotics Championship in 2012 and took the first place. During the preparation for the new competitions, the students modernized the Junior: they replaced the computer and cameras, modified the electronics and changed the power management board. Due to the high temperature, the team had to solve the problem of overheating during the competition, as well as improve the performance of the cameras due to the bright sun.

The device weighs 40 kilograms, can be submerged in water up to 10 meters and can work autonomously.

The team again prepares the robot to compete in San Diego, USA, where in 2014 it ranked fourth.
