More than 1000 games are available for purchase in the Steam online store for the
Linux family of operating systems . The mark of 500 games
was completed less than a year ago, in June 2014.
These products are just games. In total, there are more than 1,800 products for Linux in Steam, which include both games and downloadable content (DLC), demo versions and programs. Among the new products there are such hits as Payday, Besiege, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Cities: Skylines and Parallax, as well as proven Sid Meier's Civilization V, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Metro: Last Light Redux and other cross-platform products.
Unfortunately, there are no statistics on games that use the Wine emulator for their launch, and are not fully native ports. Interestingly, Steam has
only 1.02% of Linux users, and out of the 4800 games in the store, the Linux version has more than a thousand. For comparison: OS X users are three times more (3.23%), but on Steam there are only 1600 games for them.

The distribution of users may change with the further distribution of SteamOS based on Debian and the Steam Machines game consoles using it. Valve's move towards open source software
began after the Windows ecosystem became more closed. The Steam client for Linux
was released in open beta in December 2012. A year later, the SteamOS operating system
became available for download.
