Died writer Terry Pratchett

image Today, March 12, 2015, the popular English writer Sir Terry Pratchett, best known for his satirical fantasy "Flat World", passed away. His publisher said that the writer died in his home, surrounded by relatives and a cat on the bed.
In late 2007, Pratchett discovered a rare form of Alzheimer's disease, and in 2009, he wrote an open letter in the Daily Mail about euthanasia. Because of his illness, in the last years of his life, Pratchett worked by dictating to his assistant Rob Wilkins or using speech recognition software.

On the death of the writer said publisher Larry Finlay :
I was deeply saddened to hear that Sir Terry Pratchett was dead. The world has lost one of their brightest and sharpest minds.

Terry enriched the planet with his books as few before him. Everyone who read his books knows that the “Flat World” was his means to ridicule the world of it: he did it so brilliantly, with great skill, a great sense of humor and endless ingenuity.

Terry met the disease (“inconvenience”, as he called it) face to face, publicly and bravely. In recent years, he was supported only by work. His legacy will be remembered for decades.

In memory of Terry Pratchett, Just Giving created a donation page for the Research Institute for Older People (RICE).
