Turkey wants to ban Minecraft

The popular game Minecraft attracted the attention of the Turkish authorities, and from an unexpected side. A month ago, a commission at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy launched an investigation into this computer game to see if it should be added to the banned list. Yesterday the commission issued a verdict: yes, the game is too cruel and should be banned.

The report of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy has been sent to the relevant authorities, which should develop a legal procedure for the implementation of the ban. After that, the final decision will be made by the court.

“Although it can be considered that the game encourages children's creativity, allowing them to build houses, farms and bridges, it requires the killing of mobs [of hostile creatures] in order to protect these buildings. In other words, the game is based on violence, ”the official report says .

Turkish experts fear that children will confuse the game world with the real and even start torturing animals.

The report also states that Minecraft leads to “social exclusion”, and the online component of the game can lead to harassment of individual team members by others.

Minecraft is not prohibited in any other country in the world. It is known that the Turkish authorities love to censor everything (Twitter, Facebook), but now they are very close to the border of marasmus.
