Solar Impulse 2 with 17 thousand solar panels in wings with a 72 meter span flew out on a world tour without fuel

Yesterday I wrote that Solar Impulse 2 will fly out of Abu Dhabi this morning: everything went according to plan, and now Andre Borshberg at the helm of the “solar” plane is flying towards Muscat, the largest city and capital of Oman. The project site is no longer working. Estimated time of this flight - 12 hours.

You can follow the flight in a special section of the site (when it starts working again), on the project twitter, twitter pilots Andre Borshberg and Bertrand Picard . On Twitter about the world tour write with the hashtag #RTW .

In more detail about the plane and about world travel on Geektimes.
