Swiss watchmakers team up to fight Apple and Google

Swiss watchmakers are aware of the potential of smart watches. Three companies launched their watch models. All three models are based on MotionX - a new platform for watchmakers, which will help add the functionality of a smart watch to regular watches.

MotionX monitors the clock, monitors sleep and receives updates wirelessly. Instead of using a digital display, the new products use the arrows we are used to and synchronize with proprietary applications for Android and iOS. Obviously, in the world of smart watches, there is a division into 2 camps: one camp is Apple and Google, which make watches similar to smartphones, and the other is Swiss companies that embed the capabilities of smart watches in regular watches.

The Swiss joint venture Manufacture Modules Technologies says that in 2015 at least 10 models of smart watches will be presented, and notes that 3 companies have already signed an agreement. This means that more and more Swiss watchmakers will enter the market with new models of smart watches.

Swiss smart watches are similar to existing traditional models. Mondaine watches are based on the Helvetica Bold, which appeared last year and is similar to the licensed model of Swiss railway watches, and Alpina is an all-metal model and looks like a sports watch.

The first watches to be made by this watchmaker partnership will appear in June.
