3D Foodini food printer will soon be able to print your lunch
Startup Natural Machines introduced the Foodini device, which they are positioning as a "3D printer for the kitchen." The device, which in the middle of this year will go on sale at a price of $ 1,300, is able to “print” dishes from several components. Components need to grind their own to the consistency of the paste and put them in containers. Foodini does not know how to cook - it does not heat food, but simply produces a semifinished product. The authors rather boldly compare the device with microwave ovens, indicating that immediately after their appearance they were not popular, but now they are used by 90% of homes. But microwave ovens have an obvious purpose - quickly heat up food. And many housewives get the hand and cook in them. The benefits of such a 3D printer are not obvious. For example, developers in advertising their product rest on how great it is to eat fresh, natural food - but at the same time they offer to grind it into a paste to be placed in the device.
The most difficult thing to do on such a device is ravioli, and even then, the dough will need to be additionally held together manually. Perhaps, food beautifully laid out in the form of drawings would be in demand in restaurants - the authors of the device also count on them. But chefs in restaurants for aesthetic properties of the dish cost much more simple devices such as culinary bags. ')
And yet, the developers at Natural Machines are optimistic. They see the use of their product not only in homes and restaurants, but also in schools, and even on airplanes. And the next generation of devices will have to be able to automatically prepare the created dish - so that, going home, you can start the cooking process from your smartphone.
