The Danish architectural agency BIG, which is headed by the architect Vjarka Ingels, has developed, upon the request of the administration of the Swedish city of Uppsala, a concept of a cogeneration station that will run on biofuel.
Cogeneration is the process of the joint generation of electric and thermal energy. The administration of Uppsala, a city with a population of 140 thousand people, wants the station not only to benefit, heat enterprises and houses and produce electricity, but also to have an original and attractive appearance. Therefore, the designers came up with a
diamond dome for the station.

Instead of the standard placement of the station aggregates over a large area, it is proposed to place them compactly, using the third dimension. The resulting company can be covered with a dome, which not only gives it aesthetics, but also allows you to organize a winter garden. Thus, the station can become the center of social activity of local residents. In winter, it will be possible to walk among the plants and get acquainted with the work of the station.

Among other projects of the BIG company is the waste recycling plant already under construction, which must also extract energy from it. The original concept of the station includes a
ski slope on its roof with an area of almost 3.5 kilometers.
