The Eiffel Tower yesterday
acquired two small wind turbines that will generate electricity. Renewable energy company UGE International Ltd installed two of its vertical turbines VisionAIR5 above the second floor of the tower at a height of about 120 meters.
The installation of turbines is part of
the renovation process of the first floor of the tower and the commercial enterprises located there. The power generated by turbines of 10,000 kWh per year should be enough to power the entire ground floor. Their design allows them to work in the presence of wind blowing from any side.

UGE's CEO, Nick Blidersvik, commented on this event: “The Eiffel Tower is perhaps the most famous architectural icon in the world. We are proud that our technology was chosen on its path to renewable energy. When visitors from all over the world see windmills, we will take another step towards a world that uses clean and renewable energy. ”
The SETE organization, a landmark, plans to spend around € 30 million to reduce tower energy consumption by 25%. This is part of the overall
development strategy of Paris , aimed at increasing the use of "green" energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to the turbines, solar panels will be installed on the tower, whose energy will be used to heat water. It is also planned to replace all the lamps with LED lights, and collect rainwater for technical needs.
