Microsoft stops supporting its own messenger in Windows Phone
Microsoft has sent out to users of smartphones with Windows Phone 8.x a notification about the discontinuation of the Family Room feature since March 2015. It is reported that after the end of support for users will be able to view the photo albums loaded in the room, notes and calendars, but the new content will not be added. Chats (the most used feature) will be disabled completely.
At Microsoft, this is explained by the introduction of new functions in Windows 10. Judging by the abrupt cessation of support, radical changes are being prepared.
I'd add that the news was perceived as negative. The function was convenient, especially pleased with the built-in instant messenger, allowing additional programs to be written with other WP 8 users without hanging in the background. This was much more convenient than third-party applications and I considered “rooms” one of the advantages of WP8.

It is a pity that for MS it is so easy to cut the functionality in the operating system, which came out a little more than six months ago.
