Bonding Photosynth photos is now open to all

Microsoft has opened for all users access to its unique tool for creating three-dimensional panoramas Photosynth . Now anyone can click on hundreds of photos, such as their own room, upload them to Photosynth - and admire the finished three-dimensional model. Interestingly, for the demanding computing process, Microsoft does not use its own servers. They made a small module that is downloaded to the user's PC and already analyzes the photos here (searches for identical objects), and only then sends them to the server for final gluing.

This 3D model (in the illustration below) was a journalist blinded from 300+ photos of his apartment. The whole process is fully automated. If something is not clear, then there is an instructional video .

This way of visualization is also ideal for tourist photographs. Each of them does not fully convey the beauty of the area, but if you glue together a panorama, the picture becomes much more impressive. In addition, you can now get rid of huge photo albums with thousands of photos.

Viewing panoramas is rendered extremely quickly (on the Seadragon engine). Any area can be increased on the screen in just a matter of seconds. Definitely, it is more convenient than viewing ordinary photos via the Internet.

Some time ago, Microsoft opened this service to select partners, including the BBC television station and the National Geographic Society. Naturally, this was done for promotional purposes. Thanks to their high-quality content, now the site has been lined with many beautiful panoramas that remarkably demonstrate the capabilities of this unique tool. All of them can be viewed. For a virtual tour you need a powerful Direct3D-compatible video card and an Internet connection with a speed of at least 128 kbps. The service is optimized for IE7 + and FF 3.

All panoramas created by users are laid out without fail in public access. Each Microsoft user allocates free of charge up to 20 GB of disk space for photos.

Unfortunately, there is no function of group creation of panoramas, all photos must be from the same source, even if many people took pictures at the same time in one place.
