Google rolled out a set of benchmarks for cloud hosting
Google yesterday opened to the world the PerfKit project, designed to test the performance of cloud services. The project is a set of dozens of benchmarking tools that can be run either individually or sequentially in automatic mode. To view the results graphically, it is suggested to use the PerfKit Explorer tool. As stated in the blog post , tests try to cover everything, from processor speeds and drives to network features and end-to-end testing. The project is intended for those who choose the configuration of cloud hosting for their needs - and it’s not so easy to do this, focusing only on the specifications stated on the provider's website.
In particular, you can test the services of Google itself - however, the company assures that it is not afraid of comparison with its competitors. In the future, the PerfKit team hopes that this set of tests will develop into a de facto standard for hosting.
