The myth of the benefits of alcohol in small doses debunked

It is believed that moderate alcohol consumption has a positive effect on health, in particular, a good effect on the cardiovascular system. Of course, first of all, this argument is used by companies that produce and sell alcohol-containing products, and sometimes even doctors recommend their patients alcohol in small doses. However, the last thorough study shows that the positive effect of alcohol is greatly exaggerated - if it exists at all.

The study was conducted on residents of England over 50 years old, numbering more than 50,000 people. The study examined the causes of death and measured the amount of alcohol consumed (participants reported how much they drank, on their own). The results were taken from a global medical survey that took place in 1999–2008.

As a result, it was revealed that the myth about the benefits of moderate alcohol consumption is most likely due to inaccurate methods of analyzing statistical data. Virtually no connection between moderate use and the state of the cardiovascular system is not. If it is possible to draw a conclusion about some insignificant benefit, then this is true only for women over 65 years old (is it not because of us that our grandmothers often experience grandfathers?)

In this regard, as noted in the findings of the study , one should be wary of the results of health research that are too good to be true. Doctors should refrain from such recommendations. Well, it would be good to prevent alcohol advertisers from using this as an argument in promoting a product.
