Head of development from the Saratov State University. Chernyshevsky Lev Ivanov
told TASS that his team received a patent for a contactless remote polygraph. The technology, based on the assessment of non-verbal signs of speech, is verified in one hundred and fifty forensic examinations.

Lie detectors record respiration, cardiovascular activity, electrical resistance of the skin and other physiological parameters to assess the reliability of the responses of the subject. Before the advent of technology, other methods were used: in China, the suspect listened to the accusations with rice in his mouth, and if the rice remained dry, the wine was proven, because the salivation from fear stops. In 1881, a hydro-sphygmograph was used to record blood pressure.

A polygraph from Saratov scientists evaluates dozens of non-verbal signs of speech, including changes in timbre and loudness of voice, tempo, stammering. One of its advantages is the absence of the need to fix sensors on the body and to obtain consent from the subject. Remote use involves checking the accuracy of responses over audio. In the future, the polygraph can be installed as an application on a smartphone or tablet.
In recent years, technology has been tested in one hundred and fifty forensic examinations. The results were confirmed by a parallel study on a classic polygraph and search activities.
