Employees of the European Parliament
found that access to Microsoft's new applications for working with Outlook was blocked from them. The Department of Information Technology of the Parliament considered that these applications do not meet safety standards. Those who managed to install them are urged to remove applications from the device and change the password.
The cause of concern was the fact that applications without demand send passwords to Microsoft and store mail, calendar and address book in a third-party cloud service. Acompli application development company
assures that all data is encrypted in such a way that it can only be decrypted when the application is working together with the server where it is stored. Nevertheless, experts from the parliament considered that the storage of sensitive information on servers that are not under their control is a security issue.
Several other organizations (
University of Wisconsin ,
Delft Technical University ) also announced that applications are blocked because passwords and other information are stored in the cloud service.
