On TV, unexpectedly all showed the pilot of the TV show “Wheel of Time”

The half-hour pilot series based on the Robert Jordan saga “The Wheel of Time” was unexpectedly shown to everyone on FXX channel on February 8 at half past one in local time. The widow and editor of the author, Harriet McDougal, said that neither the show, nor even the pilot's script was agreed with her or with the governing heritage of the author.

As it turned out, the heirs signed a contract with Universal Pictures for the production of television products back in 2008, and this contract will end on February 11. Since 2008, Universal has worked with Red Eagle Entertainment, which, apparently, was supposed to do a film adaptation of the series - although the details of the collaboration are not yet known.

According to Rick Selvage, director of Read Eagle, the plot of the pilot reflects the prologue to the first book of the series, “The Eye of the World”. The pilot is not involved in the main characters of the work. Selvage said that initially they planned to shoot a full-length film, but the rich and rich plot of the work did not allow to shove all the events in a couple of hours of screen time. Inspired by the overwhelming success of the Games of Thrones series, the company also decided to make a television series. Selvage is confident in the success of the enterprise, as well as in the fact that the series will be able to live longer than Game of Thrones, since in terms of The Wheel of Time it is far superior to the creation of J.Martin.
