Alan Turing's notebook pages used to insulate the roof

The other day , the preserved notes from Alan Turing's notebook, which he worked with during the decoding of the Enigma code, the Nazi cryptographic machine, were presented . These records were discovered back in 2013, on the roof of the house where Turing worked during the Second World War. At the same time, the pages were used for a very simple purpose - insulation of the roof (they had plugged some slots with Turing).

Fortunately, many records have been preserved, although in 2013 they were immediately frozen in order to be cleaned and restored in the future. In addition to the documents from the Turing notebook, then other papers, more domestic plans were discovered: an article from a fashion magazine, an atlas page and a couple of papers. Now experts were able to restore many records, after which they were digitized.

Here in this hut and documents were found

It is worth noting that other documents related to decoding when Enigmas, and those used by Turing, have never been found. Virtually all documents, with very few exceptions, were immediately burned (including drafts). Now the recovered documents shed light on how Turing worked, and how the analysis of the Nazi machine encryption code was carried out.
