There are rumors that Apple is working on its own search engine, which should compete with Google. There is no official information on this subject, but a
vacancy appeared on the Apple site for the Apple Search product development manager (Engineering Project Manager - Apple Search).
Proponents of conspiracy theories may suggest that a vacancy is a deliberate "stuffing" in order to get the best terms of a contract with Google to use its search engine in Apple products. In 2013,
it was reported that Google will pay about $ 1 billion to Apple in 2014, so that the search service remains the default search engine in iOS. At the same time, in 2009, Google paid only $ 82 million for such a right, that is, every year the terms of the transaction change in the direction advantageous for Apple.

In general, rumors about the development of Apple's own search engine have
been around since 2008 . Even then it was said that this idea makes sense, because Safari browser had 6-7% of the market, and all owners of the iPhone / iPod Touch use Google search by default. Theoretically, Apple could save a lot of money by running its own search, not to mention hitting a competitor in the mobile gadget market.

In fact, the situation looks strange when Google and Apple are considered irreconcilable competitors in the smartphone market, but at the same time collaborating to provide a search service for iOS. An independent analyst back in 2010 suggested a
70% probability that Apple would launch its search engine in the coming years.
The job description on the Apple site says that the project manager will work in San Francisco and should lead the backend operations of a “search platform designed for hundreds of millions of users.”
Such a hint should be clearly perceived by Google if they believe in this information. Just this year,
the contract with Google on the use of a search engine is
expiring , so now is the time to dismiss such rumors (or actually develop your search engine).
There is still the possibility that Apple is not going to launch a separate search engine, but is simply working to improve one of the functions of the operating system (Spotlight Search).
