According
to a Chinese government
report published by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), 649 million Chinese use the Internet in China. Among them, almost 86% (about 557 million) use mobile devices to access the Network. In 2014, 31 million people connected to the Internet using a computer, while the increase in the mobile user segment was almost twice as high - 57 million.
Published statistics emphasize that China is the largest mobile market on the planet. At the same time, the growth potential remains very high: less than half of Chinese are connected to the Internet - 47.9%. Among them, about a quarter are rural residents.
The Chinese are actively using online stores: the largest retailers Alibaba and JD.com in 2014 showed a 20% growth in sales. Payment systems operated by Alibaba speak of a 17% increase in transactions. With smartphones, the situation is different: in 2014, manufacturers shipped 389 million smartphones, whereas a year earlier, the same figure was 423 million units.
The American and European vendors, which are currently out of the first echelon, are significantly strengthening their position at the expense of the Chinese market. About a month ago, Finnish Nokia
reported on the success of the preliminary sales of the Android tablet Nokia N1 in China - then in less than five minutes a batch of 20,000 tablets was sold out. Recently, Motorola (the property of Lenovo)
announced that it is returning to the Chinese market, intending to promote the Moto X and Moto G smartphones along with the Moto 360 smart watches.
