Thanks to the native support of the NVMe protocol and new mechanisms for dynamic error correction, drives based on the new controller will be able to stably maintain the level of performance corresponding to PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds over the entire service life.
The first swallows on the market will be enterprise-class solid-state drives, they will appear closer to the end of the second quarter of 2015. By the end of 2015, it is planned to completely switch from the successful, but not the most advanced, Barefoot 3 controller to the new JetExpress.
In addition to the new controller, the new Z-Drive 6000 was also presented. These, without exaggeration, monstrous discs, built on third-party controllers PMC Sierra Princeton, however, the software for the controller is fully developed by OCZ.
As a result, the disks made in the SFF form factor have a read speed of 3 GB / s and write 2 GB / s. Performance with random reading reaches 700,000 IOPS, with random writing - 175,000 IOPS. The maximum capacity of such disks is 3.2 terabytes, however, there are already prototypes of 6.4 terabytes. New controllers will certainly improve the performance of this generation Z-Drive.
