Pictures taken by the Hubble orbiting telescope have not only scientific but also artistic value. The telescope sent to Earth tens of thousands of photographs that can not be viewed without admiration. Nevertheless, Hubble has competitors, and ground. Namely -
European extremely large telescope .
Recently, astronomers got a very good snapshot of the cometary nebula CG4. Since this nebula is similar to the mouth of a snake-like monster (for comparison, you can take a worm from the “Dune”), this nebula is often called “The Monster's Mouth”. Some people also see not the mouth, but the palm, so another name for the nebula is “The Hand of God”. The nebula is located at a distance of 1300 light years from Earth, in the constellation Korma.
The photograph shows the "head" of the nebula, its diameter is about one and a half light years. There is a nebula and a tail, which, unfortunately. not visible in this photo. The length of the tail, according to experts, is one and a half light years.

Scientists have not yet come to the conclusion how such objects appear. One theory says that cometary nebulae originate from spherical nebulae, which, for some reason, have been “severed”. The second theory tells us that such nebulae are formed by stellar winds and hard radiation from hot stars, with the passage of several stages of "development", the outcome of which are cometary nebulae.
