Economist Intelligence Unit , engaged in analytics and economic research, presented its annual report “
The safest cities for life ”. Cities are compared in 40 different quantitative and qualitative indicators. A total of 50 cities in the world participate in the rankings, chosen because of their geographical and political significance and the availability of reliable statistical data. Therefore, this rating is not all-consuming - the city, which turned out to be 50th, is not the worst city to live in the world.
The report noted that the modern world for the most part lives in cities (almost 4 billion people). Most residents in the city moved to North America - 82%. Africa is the least urbanized - there is still this figure is 40%. Most cities are increasing in size, although there are exceptions - the capital of South Korea, Seoul, has decreased by almost a million people over the past 25 years. One of the interesting findings of the study: the most populated city in the world, Tokyo, is also the safest of all.

12% of all city dwellers are located in “super megapolises” - cities with a population of more than 10 million. The number of such cities has nearly tripled in the last 25 years. In cities with a population of over a million, almost 40% of the citizens live in total.
