Surely, many have heard about Folding @ Home, a distributed computing project, in which anyone can provide the available computational power to simulate the folding and unfolding of protein molecules. The research results are designed to help study such serious diseases as, for example, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, mad cow disease, sclerosis, or various forms of cancer. At the moment, Folding @ Home is the second most powerful distributed computing system in the world. We are glad to announce that as a result of cooperation between Sony and Stanford University, owners of Xperia smartphones will be able to contribute to the development of science!

To participate in the project, you will need any Xperia Z-series smartphone or tablet, T2 Ultra, T3, M2 Aqua and C3 models are also supported. Just install the
Folding @ Home application from Google Play and connect the device to the Wi-Fi network and charging. The calculations will automatically start at midnight and will take 6 hours (the launch time, however, can be changed). If there is no charging or connecting to a wireless network, the application will not work, so you should not worry about the battery and mobile traffic.
